Snottingham – NTS Rnd 2 – Another weekend of touching debauchery!

What is rapidly becoming the usual crew gathered in Nottingham last weekend for the 2nd round of the 2009 NTS. Results on the field were respectable but a few games which should have been won slipped out of our grasp. In the final standings we were 7th equal.

Team:
Boys – Eddie (c ), Robbie, Buffalo, Rusty, Ryan, Jordan & Clark
Girls – Sarah, Larissa, Clare, Ceri, Katie and Ludi

The day started slowly with the team arriving in dribs and drabs from there various methods of transport. There was panic in the ranks early doors as Jordan (grommet for the comp) fooled Clark into thinking the comp had been called off that morning – idiot. Things kicked off fairly sharpish after this with a 5-1 victory over Bristol Fijians. This opening game had not prepared us for newcomer Katie’s tale from the night before, a classic tale of romance and betrayal which would be at home in any Jilly Cooper novel. The language used was far too profane for this website.

After another 5-0 win we faced Cambridge Hornets, winners of the inaugural NTS in 2008. Sadly they pipped us 4-3. The game was very close and it must be said our three scores were all top draw team efforts. This put us into a semi final against Galaxy London who beat us 5-0. They were the better side on the day but the yankee doodle ref was awful and did nothing to help us. Now in the plate we faced bogey side Coast to Coast Custard. As always with this bunch it was a tight affair. We let three clear scoring opportunities go to waste and annoyingly they won 2-1. That was our day over, but only the start of the party…..

President Clare rocking the headset

After a few socials during the finals we headed back to Chateau Weirdsville to freshen up. A quick turnaround by the girls then off we went for a bite to eat to fuel the evening. The young bucks (Jordan, Ryan and Clark) arrived fashionably late and tarted up after some delicate spooing at Clark’s nan’s house. After some interesting revelations from the Honesty Specs, Clare (President of England) then thought it would be good to play Russian Roulette with a tray of clear drinks – buca, vodka, tequila and (if you were lucky) water. Cheers Mrs President.

From there we headed to the official after party at Wax Bar where the name tags came out. Various members of other teams tried to get themselves involved at this stage, sadly not everyone can be a Bareback. After mingling and abusing the legendary headsets we pushed on to the Cookie Club, from here on in things get misty due to some abusive drinking through superstraws and various drinking games. Luckily there was a camera……again, President Clare initiated clothes swapping, why?! In saying that it was comedy. I have vague recollections of some Boom Shake the room and the time old classic of House of Pain’s Jump Around. Hopefully somebody can confirm this actually happened……

A superb weekend was had by all, bring on Cambridge, Bath, London and every other comp!
