Raptors in the Granite City

Another trip up the road to the granite city and another trophy for the cabinet. This was the first comp of the year catching many of us without the necessary match fitness but as always the BBRs pulled through to collect the top spot.

A squad of nine traveled to the deen hoping to repeat the glory of Spring 2007, mission accomplished. Although this year the others had upped their game and made it considerably harder. After some comfortable wins in the pool stages the BBR met the aberdonian team Surf Rescue in the semi finals of the Cup. Surf went up 3 – 0 after a couple of minutes due to some slack defending by the Edinburgh outfit. It must be said the BBR like a challenge but this was just ridiculous. The holders kept their cool and pulled the tie back to a draw in order for the tie to be decided by a drop off. True to form the BBRs promptly scored and proceeded to the final.

The final pitted the BBR against the Cardiff Raptors, a side formed after the break of the Malarkys. The Raptors played well and managed to put a few scores past the BBR but ultimately came up short, losing 5 – 4.

Blue Steels all round form the victorious aberdeen squad
