BBR

The Standard

A respectable BBR side travelled through to Stirling to have a crack at a new competition and hopefully add to the rapidly filling trophy cabinet. Upon arrival we were informed that a team hand pulled out of the mens tournament and a place was available, after deliberating with the team a decision was taken by Eddie Sanjuan to play both mens and mixed in order to increase game time. The team then proceeded to play 10 games back to back, in total 200 minutes of touch. In this time we successfully won all our games.

Sadly as Stirling is relatively new to Touch rugby many of the players are still learning the rules, this proved frustrating for many of the mens teams which led to an overspill of anger on occasion. This anger was often directed at us as they also struggled with the concept of losing to girls at rugby. As the tournament drew to a close many of the teams began to appreciate the intricacies of the game and tempers were subdued allowing the usual camaraderie to occur. Captain Eddie Sanjuan even managed a full 45 seconds shaking the hand of Ian Jardine whilst collecting the trophy.

The night out lived up to expectation with the new “beer goggles” in play. A big well done to newby BBR Karen “KT” Taylor for even managing to seduce a poor soul whilst wearing them.
